If you read my recent review on the BB Bullet Exhaust for C6 Z06 and ZR1, you know that I was a bit disappointed in the levels of sound emitted by this system. I think I found the solution
Left untouched the Bullets simply were not as loud as the 2011 oem exhaust I had on my heads n cam C6 Z06 prior to installing the Billy Boat Bullets, and on my modified setup it had a very unpleasant drone at cruising speed. It’s a much deeper tone, but it doesn’t live up to the evil hype and aggression associated with the legendary Bullet exhaust available for both C5 & C6. This is mainly due to the addition of a small resonated muffler on the C6 Z06/ZR1 version of the Bullet exhaust. The C5 & base model C6 Billy Boat Bullet exhaust don’t have any mufflers…they are pretty much straight through exhaust systems, allowing for maximum volume. The verdict isn’t clear yet about drone, but I’m thinking without the muffler drone is even worse on a modified setup.
Nevertheless, I’ve found a C6 Z06 owner with a heads n cam package making about what I was making at the rear wheels (600rwhp). He wanted to get more volume from his Billy Boat Bullets for C6 Z06/ZR1 so what did he do? He CHOPPED THE MUFFLERS OFF his Bullets and swapped in straight pipes. The video above captured the idle and revs of his BB Bullets for C6 Z06 and ZR1 without mufflers.
So? What do you think? I feel like down low it’s got that deep Bullet idle, but at higher rpm’s the straight pipes have gained a higher pitched scream. I think it sounds great. The way Bullet’s “should” sound. They definitely seem much louder than “regular” C6 Z06 ZR1 Bullets. Earplugs required!
