When the C6 Z06 was introduced in 2006, it was the first Corvette in history to come standard with a vacuum operated dual-mode exhaust. This system would open up a set of butterfly valves in the exhaust when engine speeds exceeded 3500rpm’s, awakening the engine with more volume, exhaust flow and a more aggressive tone. With the introduction of the 2009 ZR1, the oem system, although exactly the same in dimensions and shape were modified internally and featured perforated tips for a more unique sound compared to the Z06. In 2011 the learnings made on the ZR1 oem exhaust system were applied to the Z06, creating a Corvette exhaust system with a sharper, more authoritative tone & significantly more banging & popping upon deceleration at high rpm’s. Regardless of the year, all C6 Z06 & ZR1 are interchangeable…exhaust systems for C6 Z06 fit C6 ZR1.

On Z06 & ZR1, Billy Boat Fusion & Akrapovic exhaust systems provide the same dual-mode design as the factory, but with unique tones and weight savings. All other exhaust options are single mode exhausts that rely on complicated engineering to manipulate sound and drone for an enhanced driving experience.
